O-Rings
and Seals
Our
specialty is solving sealing problems for original equipment manufacturers.
Please contact us at (303)
758-2728 if you need help with a sealing problem or design.
We carry o-rings, seals, custom molded rubber parts, wipers, diaphragm,
valves and u-cups in all types of materials including Viton®,
Kalrez®, Viton® Extreme™ ETP, Simriz®,
nitrile (buna-n), neoprene, rubber, silicone, polyurethane, TFE and FEP
encapsulated elastomers.
We
are certified to sell Viton®, Kalrez® and Viton® Extreme™
ETP by DuPont. |

We
focus on establishing long-term relationships and exceeding our
customer expectations. |
Viton®
and Viton® Extreme™ ETP O-rings and Seals
Viton® fluoroelastomer has excellent (400°F/200°C) heat
resistance and is very resistant to aggressive fuels and chemicals.
There are four families of Viton® polymers: A, B, F and Viton®
Extreme™ ETP.
|
Kalrez®
O-rings and Seals
Kalrez®
resists over 1,800 different chemicals while offering high temperature
stability (600°F/316°C). It is used in highly aggressive
chemical processing, semiconductor wafer processing and other demanding
sealing applications.

Elastomers
for O-rings and Seals
Choosing the right elastomer for your application
is very important. If you are not careful you can choose the very
best, such as a Viton® Extreme™ seal or Kalrez® o-ring,
when a cheaper elastomer would actually work better. |
Elastomer
Properties
The proper o-ring
and seal design depends on a knowledge of many elastomer properties
such as hardness, tensile strength, compressive response, compression
set, stress relaxation, abrasion resistance and tear resistance. |
Seal
Design Theory
The use of an
o-ring as a seal is mainly to prevent the transfer of fluid (liquid,
solid or gas) between two or more regions. Successful seal design
ensures adequate seal compressive force while minimizing the destructive
stress acting on the o-ring. |
Seal
Failure Analysis
O-rings
and seals fail for many reasons. It is useful to analyze the environment,
seal design and elastomer when there is a failure. Problem Solving Products, Inc. helps manufacturers correct problems with sealing failures.

Fluid
Compatibility Charts
Before
designing an o-ring or seal, it is important to know how compatible
the elastomer is with all the chemicals that will contact it. |
PSP
O-ring Sizes
PSP o-ring sizes are the same standard sizes used throughout
the o-ring industry and in most aerospace and military applications. We stock
all standard sizes and many non-standard and metric sizes. We can manufacture
any o-ring size to your specifications. |
|
Industries
We Serve
PSP
supplies products to every industry including food processing, aerospace,
chemical processing, semiconductor, pharmaceutical and the automotive
industry. We can supply a small number of specialized o-rings for
a research design project or a huge quantity to original equipment
manufacturers. |
Product
Information (partial list)
We
carry products in all materials including Viton®, Kalrez®,
Viton® Extreme™ ETP, Simriz®, nitrile
(buna-n), silicone, rubber, neoprene, polyurethane, TFE and FEP encapsulated
elastomers. We have all sizes and shapes, everything from x-rings
to u-cups. |
Problems
Solved
We
solve problems by analyzing each individual application in depth.
The seal design is critically important and it must be sized right.
Otherwise, the seal will fail, perhaps with disastrous results.
This was the case with train that that leaked oil and started fires
all along the track.

Metal
Detectable O-rings and Seals
In the food and beverage industry,
a piece of elastomer can break off from a seal due to excessive
wear or improper installation and contaminate the product. Metal
detectable o-rings and seals are an efficient and cost effective
way to handle this problem. Fragments as small as 2 mm can be identified
by metal detector equipment. The tainted product can be immediately
segregated from the process stream. |
