Simriz®
o-rings and seals: Perfluoroelastomers have an high fluoric
content. Because of the high bond energy between the carbon-atom
and fluorine-atom, the result is an excellent chemical and thermal
resistance, the widest chemical resistance of any elastomeric
material. Perfluoroelastomers (FFKM) combine the resilience
and sealing force of an elastomer with a chemical resistance
approaching that of PTFE. Truly Simriz® Perfluoroelastomers
can be used in a plurality of chemicals with nearly all functional
groups.
Typical
uses of Simriz® o-rings and seals: Crystal Growth, Epitaxial
Silicon, LPCVD/Oxidation, Coater/Developer, CVD, Dry Etch, Resist
Stripping, Wet Etch, PVD
Chemistry:
Copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and perfluorovinyl ether.
Simriz®
is a family of perfluoroelastomer compounds designed to provide
superior chemical resistance and thermal stability.
With
a fluorination level of 72%, FFKM elastomers have a level of
resistance close to that of pure PTFE at 76%. At the same time,
FFKM materials exhibit resilience that makes them an excellent
choice for applications where resistance to aggressive chemicals
and tight sealing is needed. Thorough selecting the right patented
cross-linking system the beneficial proprieties of Simriz®
have been optimized. This provides Simriz® o-rings and seals
with excellent chemical resistance, including resistance to
organic amines and steam.
Simriz®
o-rings and seals are available in nine different Simriz®
compounds. Each compound is specifically designed to optimize
the following criteria and to meet market specific application
needs: broad chemical resistance, mechanical properties (hardness,
tensile strength, elongation, etc.), compression set resistance,
high temperature capability at 320° (610°F), and low
temperature flexibility at -20°C (-4°F).
Because
of its chemical resistance and thermal stability, a Simriz®
o-ring or seal is ideal for demanding environments often found
in chemical processing, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, aerospace,
oil and gas, and general industrial applications.
